In the summer of 2010 I quit my day job to pursue what I thought was my passion and what I went to school for, design and illustration. backyardink started as that and very quickly became something so much better.

My real passion, a photography business.

I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. I still recall my parents giving me my first camera, an old film, canon 35mm when I was a kid and couldn’t put it down. I’ve moved on to digital now but still use and love film, especially polaroids. I love photographing people. People are so interesting to me. Everyone is different and so complex in their own way that no portrait session is ever the same, and I love that. Children are definitely my favorite kind of people, they are the most comfortable and goofy in front of the camera and can truly be themselves, which is how I prefer all of my clients to be. Themselves.

backyardink is sorta a husband and wife team…I say sorta because I haven’t convinced my husband to pick up the camera and shoot, so he’s just my lovely assistant (for now) ;) …and a great one at that.

What you’ll find me shooting with: Canon EOS 20D, 50mm 1.4, 24-70mm 2.8, Polaroid sx-70 (which i’m in love with), Polaroid 100 land camera and my medium format Yashica Mat (which i’m still getting to know).

have any questions? feel free to shoot me an email at

thanks for stopping by!
